The association of municipal IT-managers, itchefer.dk, is a non-profit interest group for the municipal leading employees within the IT area in the municipalities. Members are the Danish municipalities, which are typically represented by CIOs, IT managers, digitalizing managers, IT coordinators, IT operational managers, IT technical managers, user services managers, help desk managers and IT project employees. The majority of de 98 municipalities in Denmark is member of the association.

The purpose of the association is

• To work for the incorporation of IT usage as a natural part on all levels in the local organization.
• To exchange experiences and information on the IT area, both technical and strategic amongst the members of the municipality.
• To unite and represent municipalities in questions of common interests towards suppliers/contractors of all kinds of IT services.
• To represent the members in questions of common interest towards Government departments, the national association of municipalities (Kommunernes Landsforening, KL), the association of chief executive (Kommunaldirektørforeningen, KDF) and other cooperation partners.
• To carry through project days, seminars, study tours etc. with IT related contents for the members of the association.
• To participate actively in the public debate regarding IT questions in order to bring the use of technology into focus within the municipal area.

The mission of the association is

• To optimize quality, service and efficiency in the local payments/benefits based on digital solutions – to the benefit for both citizens and employees
• To use transverse knowledge and insight in local processes to qualify and influence decisions.
• To realize decisions.

The vision of the association is

• To participate actively in public decision processes in connection with digital and IT related initiatives, as a highly recognized and respected representative for the municipal sector
• To strengthen the municipalities in the daily work.
• To motivate towards an improved production and support of relevant use of digital solutions in the municipalities.
